ABOUT ALBIN BUCHNER, FOUNDER OF INTAKE CLEANING

Albin Buchner, the founder of Port Carbon Clean, which was sold in 2022, is now reopening a new venture, Intake Cleaning, building upon the success of his previous business while incorporating additional expertise.

Albin’s journey began in the 1980s in Austria, where he started his mechanical apprenticeship. This intensive training laid the groundwork for his deep expertise in European cars and laid the foundation for a career dedicated to automotive performance. After completing his apprenticeship, Albin honed his skills with various brands, eventually becoming an expert in European vehicles.

In the early 2000s, Albin saw the emerging need for a specialised service to tackle carbon build-up in the growing number of Direct Injection engines. This insight led him to establish Port Carbon Clean, which quickly became a leader in the walnut shell blasting service for engine intake cleaning. The company’s success was driven by his mechanical expertise, a passion for quality, and his understanding of the unique needs of modern high-performance engines.

After selling Port Carbon Clean in 2022 and taking a well-deserved break, Albin has now reinvented his approach, relaunching under the name Intake Cleaning. Building upon his experience, Intake Cleaning expands the original walnut shell blasting service, adding a specialisation in European vehicles. This new company reflects Albin’s ongoing commitment to quality and performance while offering a comprehensive range of services for both modern Direct Injection engines and classic European models.

WHAT WE DO

Intake Cleaning is a specialised business dedicated to the cleaning of inlet ports, inlet valves, manifolds, and EGR systems using state-of-the-art Walnut Shell Blasting technology. This process is essential for modern engines with Direct Injection (DI) fuel systems, where carbon build-up can restrict airflow, reduce efficiency, and impact overall performance.

HOW WE DO IT

Our process starts with removing the inlet manifold and disconnecting all components attached to it, allowing us to access the inlet ports thoroughly. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how we clean your engine’s intake system:

  • Disconnection & Removal: All components attached to the inlet manifold are carefully disconnected, and the manifold is removed from the engine.
  • Inspection & Documentation: We take detailed photos of all intake ports and valves before cleaning to document the condition and ensure nothing is missed.
  • Targeted Cleaning: Special adapters are inserted into the inlet ports, and walnut shell blasting is performed on targeted areas, focusing on cleaning the internal port walls and valve stems.
  • Manifold Inspection: The inlet manifold is inspected for cleanliness and functionality. If necessary, it is also cleaned. A new manifold gasket is installed to prevent any potential leaks.
  • Final System Check: Once all mechanical work is completed, an Error Code scan is performed to ensure no faults are logged in the vehicle’s ECU.

WHY WE DO IT

We provide walnut shell blasting to help your engine run more efficiently, with a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Increase in Horsepower & Torque: Cleaning the intake system allows the engine to breathe better, improving horsepower and torque.
  • Enhanced Efficiency & Higher Mileage: A cleaner intake system makes your engine operate more efficiently, leading to better fuel economy and longer-lasting performance.
  • Lower Emissions: Regular cleaning helps reduce carbon build-up, supporting lower emissions and ensuring compliance with environmental controls.
  • Prevention of Engine Failure: Keeping the intake system clean, we help prevent carbon build-up, which can cause engine misfires, rough idling, or even engine failure over time.
  • Better Cold Starts & Smoother Idling: Carbon build-up can cause cold start issues and a rough idle. Our cleaning service helps eliminate these problems, ensuring smoother performance, especially during the first start of the day.

WHY OUR PROCESS IS PRECISE

Thorough Cleaning: We take great care to ensure that every part of the intake system is cleaned without causing damage to delicate engine components.
Quality Materials: Only the correct grade of walnut shells is used to avoid any harm to the engine. This ensures a gentle yet effective cleaning process.
Controlled Air Pressure: We maintain specific air pressure to ensure walnut shells are directed only where needed and prevent them from entering unwanted engine areas.

WHY CHOOSE INTAKE CLEANING?

At Intake Cleaning, we are dedicated to enhancing your vehicle’s performance, fuel efficiency, and longevity. With years of experience and cutting-edge technology, we deliver results you can trust. Whether you own a high-performance European car or a modern direct-injection engine, our team is ready to provide the exceptional service you need
